School Supplies
4 months ago, Deana Abel
We thank Chris Little at The Attic for sponsoring a school supply drive for the Omak and Okanogan School Districts! While the Omak School District provides students with basic supplies, this generous contribution significantly supports our schools, families, and community. Programs like Special Education, Title I, Music, and Library, which do not receive direct supply allocations, benefit significantly from these donations. Additionally, as we do not provide backpacks, these contributions are incredibly valuable and appreciated.

The third graders from East Summer School embarked on an educational field trip to explore the City of Omak. During their visit, they engaged in a simulated city council meeting where they proposed the installation of a new splash pad at the local park. Through this experience, they learned about the processes involved in city council decision-making. Additionally, the students toured the police and fire departments and also visited the newly constructed skate park.

The Pioneer Track and Field team headed to Cashmere last night to compete at the district meet and have a chance to qualify for the state championship meet next weekend.
We ended the night with 6 individuals qualifying in 7 events. The top 2 athletes in each event qualified for state.
Lady Pioneer Qualifiers:
Syreni Sandoval in the 3200m 1st place (13:21.16)
Ava Freese in the 1600m 2nd place (5:59.23)
Kiona Michele in the Shot Put 2nd place (30'5")
Kamdin Carlton in the High Jump 1st place (4'10")
Men Pioneer Qualifiers:
Awston Clark in the 400m 2nd (52.77)
Kaiden Devereaux in the High Jump 2nd (5'10") and the Javelin 2nd (144'4")
Kaiden Devereaux's performance was the highlight of the night. He not only qualified in 2 events but also placed 4th in both the 4x100 relay and the triple jump. His dedication and hard work paid off, with all his events resulting in new personal records, except for the high jump where he tied his old record and narrowly missed 6'0" for a new one. His achievements should inspire us all to strive for our best.
As a team, we ended the night with 26 season-best times or distances, and both the boys' and girls' teams placed third in team points.
The Omak coaching staff was very pleased with the night's outcome, and we're excited to be taking 6 athletes to Yakima next weekend for the State Championships.
