Overview
Welcome to East Omak Elementary's School Counseling Webpage!
The goal of the East Omak Elementary School Counseling Program is to provide a comprehensive school counseling program that encompasses the following elements:
Support the social development of all students
Support the emotional needs of all students
Support the academic needs of all students, staff, and families
PBIS
East Omak Elementary uses Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) as a method to help improve student behavior and overall student achievement. PBIS is an approach for assisting staff in adopting and organizing behavioral interventions into an integrated continuum that enhances academic and social behavior outcomes for all students.
Our goal at East Omak Elementary School is to help each child develop self-discipline to make good choices. The school and the home share a partnership and a responsibility for developing good citizens. PBIS is based upon our philosophy of recognizing positive contributions and behaviors of students. PBIS means that administrators, teachers, bus drivers, custodial staff, food service, and other support staff are taking the responsibility to teach positive behavior expectations to students. PBIS means that students know exactly what is expected of them. Students can receive rewards for appropriate behavior and making good choices.

Study Skills
During Social Skills, a wide variety of bibliotherapy books are utilized to help reinforce and engage the students. Students find a great deal of enjoyment from these books as they often teach important messages in a humorous and relatable manner. During Social Skills, students spend time sharing and discussing their own experiences with situations, while also role playing how to handle issues.
